One Small Planet
began in 1996 when the co-founder, Courtney Wise, was working as Curriculum
Director for Kid's College, an ESL institute located in Seoul, Korea.
Together with her now husband and co-founder, Blair Cook, Courtney
wanted to provide a resource for others who wanted to learn about
working and travelling abroad.
For 6 years while
both Courtney and Blair pursued careers in educational software and
educational IT Administration respectively, they maintained the One
Small Planet website as a hobby to continue to share their love of
travel and global studies.
Having left the
9-5 office to be home with their two young sons, Courtney has gotten
back in touch with her creative self and is redesigning the One Small
Planet website to celebrate arts and crafts of the world. Look for
jewelry kits containing unusual and uncommon beads and charms, recycled
and nautral beads, tribal and ethnic inspired jewelry art as well
as imported jewelry coming soon to the site.
In
the spirit of our original website concept, we still have a page devoted
to General Information
About Going Abroad that we've filled with links and
books with information on working, studying, volunteering and traveling
abroad. This page is useful for those just beginning their search
for information to link to sites with extensive databases of international
opportunities.
